and Caroline moved to the beautiful Hebridean Isle of Mull nine years
ago. They met when Jo was struggling with metres of piping as she helped
her husband John to install the under floor heating in Caroline’s new
house. This unlikely beginning formed the basis of a friendship with
many adventures revolving around food, mushrooms and community projects.
What they have in common, apart from a tendency to giggle at the less
serious side of life is a passion for food; food which retains its
natural flavours and textures and is, wherever possible, organic.
Caroline, Jo and John have had an interest in Organic
Food for many years and were inspired by the writing of Lawrence Hills
and became subscribers to Henry Doubleday Research Association even
before the Ryton days.
Jo worked in a catering and training environment for
thirty years before moving to Mull with John to set up the Oil Boiler
Service business. Caroline has worked in education for many years and
more recently ran a Bed and Breakfast on the Isle of Mull.
Jo has been making muesli for over thirty years and
following enthusiastic feedback from Caroline’s B & B guests thought
that this was a start to the day that others might enjoy. During the
early months in 2007 they looked at the possibility of making a quality
organic muesli for sale to the public. The muesli was launched at the
local Producers Market and has been enjoyed by islanders and visitors
alike.
Feedback from muesli enthusiasts has helped Jo refine the
recipe and resulted in the great mixes which are now on sale: Currently
available are Toasted Muesli, Nutty Muesli, Fruity Muesli and
Snackerals. We plan to launch the Toasted Oaty Muesli on
line in January 2008.
At the moment we are busy in the kitchen trying out
recipes, which will make a variety of delicious organic Muesli Bars.
Watch this space for more information in spring 2008.
